There has never been a better time to be a part of AtkinsRéalis!We are seeking a Senior Roadway Project Manager to join our team in IselinNJ, New York City, NY, or Philadelphia, PA, to lead and work on various roadway projects with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA)).About UsAtkinsRéalis is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering, and project management companies. AtkinsRéalis has the depth and breadth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects and the urgent transition to a low-carbon economy.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves clients on major projects, using a sound technical background, excellent communication and organizational skills as well as thorough knowledge and understanding of New Jersey design details and standards.
  • Manages and grows AtkinsRéalis’ transportation business as a seller/doer, supporting pursuits, proposals and projects for  the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA).
  • Defines scope of projects, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing and executing project assignments requiring multiple technical units and/or subcontractors, heavy regulatory agency involvement, or highly complex technical requirements.
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced peers to assist in their training and development.
  • Performs the essential project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controls and financial management.
  • Coordinates and participates in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors and drafts professional service agreements, arranging for their review and execution by senior management.
  • Directs project team compliance with contract terms, monitors subcontractors' progress, performance, and compliance with contractual commitments.
  • Develops, communicates, and manages project quality assurance, administrative procedures, communication guidelines, project deliverable formats and specifications, and progress reporting requirements.
  • Monitors schedules, billings, and reports; ensures appropriate charging of manhours, costs, and expenses to projects communicates project progress/status to senior management.
  • Participates in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and in the preparation of the firm's qualification/experience statements.
  • Maintains frequent contact and facilitates communication as needed between clients and regulatory agency personnel to determine their respective needs and requirements.
  • May supervise other project managers, technical professionals, and other design staff, including managing weekly project workload and manpower forecasting.
  • Monitors and reports the financial status of projects to technical managers.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
  • Help support other offices within the region to fulfill current project needs and support planning the future of our New Jersey business.

Role Requirements, Education and Experience

  • Professional Engineering P.E. license in New Jersey required.  PE license in other Northeast states is a plus. 
  • Certification as a “Project Management Professional” (PMP) is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in field(s) of practice (e.g., Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering), . Graduate degree preferred. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus. This level may be achieved with ten years of experience in project production and technical professional activities, four of these working as a project manager.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, public speaking and persuasive ability.
  • Strong project financial management and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of production support systems and personal computer proficiency.
  • Existing NJDOT and NJTA relationships preferred.
