Job Description

  We are seeking a qualified Resident Engineer, preferably Civil/Geotechnical, with 15+ years of experience for our tailings and heap leach projects in Fresnillo, Zacatecas. Experience with embankment and dam construction is required. Experience with heap leach and tailings management facilities is a plus.The successful applicant must demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks and provide fast-tracked, cost-effective solutions during the construction phase of facilities designed by Knight Piésold.  This position puts the applicant in direct contact with client representatives at many levels, field quality teams, and our engineering teams in multiple countries. Technical experience should include embankment or dam construction, soil mechanics and geology, geotechnical field investigations, construction of mechanical & piping components for tailings and water pumping/conveyance systems, construction management, and understanding geotechnical/geological construction requirements and overall civil construction practices.About Knight PiésoldKnight Piésold is a specialized international consulting firm offering engineering and environmental services in Mining, Environment, Hydropower, and Water Resources. The Role:The successful applicant will provide construction technical support and oversight/management on civil and mechanical & piping construction activities, ensuring that construction operations and contractor performance are in compliance with the safety program, approved construction drawings, technical specifications, and work packages, as well as provide technical support to the engineering design team in relation to design changes or construction methods when necessary. This role is responsible for day-to-day interface with the Owner and contractors, representing the engineer of record for projects that include but may not be limited to: water dams; tailings dams; heap leach pads; foundations; and other mining, renewable energy, and hydropower facilities. Work will be in a field environment.Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Knight Piésold project manager and engineer of record, client, contractor, and subcontractors and actively participates in day-to-day activities on medium to large construction/remediation projects providing engineering and technical construction support.
  • Updates and informs the project manager and client representative on work progress, providing suggested solutions or modifications as needed.
  • Evaluates field activities and project progress, providing alternative solutions, if needed.
  • Provides seamless interaction between the project manager, design team, and team of Quality Assurance engineers.
  • Plans and supervises temporary works and environmental protection best management practices (BMPs).
  • Conducts technical editing, drawing preparation oversight, document development, and production activities while in the field, as assigned by the project manager.

Requirements:

  • B.S. or equivalent professional or university degree in civil or geotechnical engineering.
  • 15+ years of combined experience in civil engineering, earthwork, pipeline systems construction
  • Native Spanish; English communication is a plus
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret engineering reports, design drawings and specifications; construction procedures and contractual documents.
  • Strong capabilities for construction management
  • Strong capabilities for problem resolution and client relationships
  • Proficient in MS Office and technical writing.
  • Civil 3D, GEO-Slope programs, and other geotechnical/civil design software would be a plus.
