Learn more by visiting www.geosyntec.comAs an Intern - Environmental Engineering / Scientist, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment and remediation and/or environmental due diligence for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. We are seeking a part-time (24-40 hours/week) intern for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer semester of 2023 for a position in Raleigh, Charlotte, Asheville, Wilmington North Carolina or Greenville, SC. Preferred candidates would be available for consideration of fulltime employment shortly after the end of their internship. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIs this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals?   • Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools;
  • Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors and construction personnel; and
  • Potentially perform fieldwork such as soil, sediment, or groundwater sampling; system operation, maintenance, and testing; or drilling and contractor oversight.

  • Currently registered in or having recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in a relevant engineering or science discipline. (required)
  • Degree focus area in civil, environmental, chemical, or water resources engineering, geology, or environmental science. (required)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Coachability/teachability and ability to work as part of a team. (desired)
  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record to drive to project sites. (required)
  • Experience working in challenging outdoor environments. (preferred)
  • Relevant field experience, for example sediment sampling, porewater sampling, observation of well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and/or other field techniques. (preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (including Access), GIS, ArcView, and/or CADD. (preferred)
  • Experience with geologic/engineering field work or remediation technology (preferred)
