WATER RIGHTS SPECIALIST WWE is seeking a Water Rights Specialist with 2-5 years of experience to support water rights evaluations, due diligence, water rights accounting, water supply planning, and support for preparation of expert reports for water rights adjudications. The selected candidate must have the ability to analyze technical documents, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and work seamlessly with multiple project staff. This role will support work in WWE’s Denver, Durango, and Glenwood Springs offices. Key Responsibilities • Perform water rights research, evaluations, and due diligence for surface water and groundwater systems. • Prepare water rights summaries, tables, and exhibits for engineering studies and water court applications. • Assist with preparation of diligence filings, change cases, augmentation plans, and substitute water supply plans. • Analyze diversion records, decrees, well permits, and administrative call data. • Support water supply planning studies for municipal, industrial, agricultural, and development clients. • Coordinate with project engineers, hydrogeologists, surveyors, and legal counsel. • Interact with state agencies such as the Colorado Division of Water Resources and local water providers. • Assist with client communication and technical memoranda preparation. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Hydrology, Water Resources, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field. • 2–5 years of experience working with Colorado water rights or water resources. • Working knowledge of Colorado water law and administration (prior appropriation system). • Experience reviewing decrees, well permits, and diversion records. • Strong technical writing and organizational skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and data management tools. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a consulting environment. • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. • Expertise with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word • Meticulous attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting water court applications or working with water attorneys. • Familiarity with groundwater/surface water interactions and augmentation concepts. • Experience with Colorado Decision Support System (CDSS) TSTools, StateMod, StateCU, or other water resources modeling tools. • EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure Compensation/Benefits • Full-time position with a salary range of $70,000–90,000, based on experience, education, and skills (commensurate with experience, education, and skills) plus a discretionary quarterly bonus program. • Comprehensive benefits package, including employer-paid health insurance, voluntary dental and vision plans, and a retirement plan. • Additional perks such as flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and profit sharing. • Career development opportunities in a dynamic and challenging work environment with leaders in the water resources industry.
