Position Summary The Mechanical Engineering Intern is responsible for updating production documentation, creating new assembly documentation, and working with the engineering staff on specific design projects. Responsibilities • Drawing new and modifying existing components, cable assemblies, and sub-assemblies in SolidWorks. • Using guidelines from the engineering staff to design and/or improve assemblies and accessories for PDI’s product line. • Working with measuring devices (calipers, rulers, etc.) to properly document the assembly process. • Working with the Electrical Engineers, Production Managers, and Assembly Technicians to create a set of instructions for each drawing. Experience • Must possess knowledge of the SolidWorks software, have good mechanical, and basic computer skills. • Currently enrolled and obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Physical Requirements • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. • Requires extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting. • Normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
