Job Description

The position

In the role of Logistics Engineer Offshore Energy you prepare the logistics scope (commercial, technical and operational input) for tenders and projects. You ensure that the required documentation and operational procedures related to the logistics scope for the project are in order. You arrange and or (manage) and monitor the logistics process and progress both remotely and on location during the execution of the project. Part of the role is traveling to suppliers and/or project locations.You work mainly in our office in Gorinchem, also partly at our head office in Rotterdam interfacing with the marine hire desk and projects. You will be working in a team of 5 colleagues. Due to the growth ambitions, we also expect to hire a colleague for our office in Hamburg (DE) in due course.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:• Providing detailed input regarding the costs for mobilization / demobilization, the logistics infrastructure, customs regime for import & export of project equipment and ships and marshalling yard locations;• Maintain contacts with logistics service providers (examples Agents Port and Customs agent, heavylift companies, and evaluate their performance;• Initiating, developing and executing plans and procedures to improve existing logistics processes; material storage and distribution control;• Good Strong interest in and affinity with heavy transport;• Experience with Marine operations and shipping;• Experience and knowledge chartering vessels ;• Basic knowledge of BIMCO Charter party agreements.

Job requirements

The Logistics Engineer Offshore Energy that we are looking for has excellent communication skills to work effectively with our logistic suppliers and direct colleagues from commercial-, tender-, and project teams. You show flexibility and adaptability to deal with changing circumstances and deadlines that come your way. You are creative and have the ability to quickly find solutions to our logistical challenges. You work organized and efficiently. You are a team player and above all you are proactive and eager to learn, you want to continuously develop yourself and acquire new knowledge and skills in order to grow within Van Oord.Furthermore, for the role as a Logistics Engineer Offshore Energy you have:

  • At least a completed secondary vocational education;
  • At least 3 to 5 years in a comparable international logistics role;
  • Experience with heavy cargo and breakbulk transport;
  • A driving license B;
  • A good command of the English language, both verbal and in writing.
