Job Description

Founded in 1925, Volkert is celebrating a century of serving our employees, clients, partners, and communities.  We are currently searching for an experienced Roadway Engineer to support our East Gulf Region located in Gulf Shores, AL.  What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage project designs, budgets, and schedules
  • Communicate with Clients – Schedule meetings, develop agendas and meeting resumes
  • Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
  • Oversee and assist in the design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructures
  • Projects may include roadway design, airport design, utility design, drainage and hydraulic design, erosion control, and civil design
  • Oversee and assist in the development and design of projects which consist of the plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations & analysis, and utilizes design software to solve complex issues
  • Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports

 What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License in the State of Alabama
  • 5 -10 years of experience
  • Proficient with MicroStation and Inroads
  • Familiarity with OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with MS Office products
  • Must be dependable with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide high quality work
