You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve. Operating in the renewable energy and resilience markets, our energy team uses balanced energy systems including solar, offshore wind, battery energy storage, micro-grids and hydrogen to provide comprehensive solutions to our client’s most meaningful energy needs.We are looking to hire a Process/Chemical Engineer for our Houston Office to provide engineering and consulting services for a range of national and international energy projects. In the short term those projects would include engineering, consulting, and advisory services associated with:
•    Hydrogen production, conversion, storage, distribution systems,
•    Waste to energy projects,
•    Biofuel and SAF production,
•    Carbon capture and sequestration systems,
•    Energy storage and demand consulting for the petrochemical industry.Responsibilities:
•    Lead a team of engineers and analysts performing techno-economic system analysis and design of chemical processes and processing units associated with production of sustainable energy systems including electrolysis, green ammonia, e-methanol, e-fuels, waste-to-value, and renewable natural gas.
•    Review and development of conceptual and front-end process engineering solutions, process simulation, equipment lists and data sheets
•    Participating in techno-economic and scale-up evaluation of new technology including implementing Critical Design Review processes
•    Assist in technical and commercial due diligence reviews
•    Conduct business planning, economic, contractual, and/or financial analysis associated with these technologies
•    Review and preparation of PFD and P&ID for the works described above
•    Participation in HAZID and HAZOP assessments
•    Perform engineering calculations
•    Drawing markup and coordination
•    Technical Report WritingQualifications:
•    Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Process Engineering
•    Minimum 5 years of experience in the design and project management of process-oriented systems, with a preference for hydrogen, carbon capture, waste-to-energy or related processes.
•    Consistent track record of leading delivery of sophisticated projects.
•    Sound understanding of renewable energy concepts, trends, and economics.
•    PE license or EIT accreditation preferred.
•    The ability to prioritize work effectively, handle deadlines and exceptional organization skills required for our rapidly changing environment.
•    Excellent communication for team-based working.
•    Effective presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.
•    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.
•    Must be highly motivated, proactive and passionate about new challengesThe following would be considered advantageous:
•    Holding a Texas PE license.
•    Holding a Master’s degree or higher
•    Bilingual (Spanish with English)
