This person will work with a team and report to a manager.The role is important for improving the company's geotechnical designs, satisfying clients, and growing the business. It also involves mentoring, training, and improving quality assurance.The tasks include:

  • Finding new opportunities to grow the client base and project list.
  • Creating strong engineering designs and solutions that meet standards, working closely with team members for excellent project outcomes.
  • Checking the quality of colleagues work, especially if not leading a project.
  • Helping with project planning, teamwork, and preparing documents for potential projects.
  • Working with the team to plan projects, track progress, handle billing, and respond to project inquiries.
  • Managing various projects with different levels of difficulty and importance.
  • Supporting teamwork and department goals.
  • Encouraging growth for the organisation and its employees, participating in training with senior staff.
  • Setting a good example and helping colleagues grow through positive leadership and guidance.

Key qualifications and abilities required:

  • 10-20+ years of experience in geotechnical design, preferably with Department of Transportation or private sector projects like commercial or municipal.
  • A Professional Engineer license in North Carolina or Virginia.
  • Proven ability to ensure client satisfaction, promote teamwork, and contribute to business growth.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and the ability to manage multiple projects within set parameters.
  • Strong skills in technical writing and reviewing for various design aspects.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT practices, policies, and relevant design standards.
  • Knowledge of NCDOT prequalification codes for Geotechnical Engineering and Design.
  • Expertise in project management, including client and risk management.
  • Willingness to lead and support the growth of the geotechnical design team.
