  • Work with other Construction Materials Lab managers supporting and collaborating with our construction materials testing, inspection, and laboratory groups across the SW Mtn District
  • Will be responsible for lab accreditations, preparing for lab audits, maintaining quality control, and ensuring timely execution of lab tests
  • Will be responsible for maintaining the UDOT Certification program for field and laboratory staffc
  • Support business development and strategic planning efforts to increase market share in priority markets.
  • Manage and coordinate laboratory technician team, including ensuring the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Must have sound knowledge of laboratory tests, field testing and inspections
  • Position will serve as primary interface with client representatives
  • Must have ability to make quick decisions requiring sound judgment and experience
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You AreRequired Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree or measurable experience managing and implementing a construction materials laboratory business
    6+  years experience with construction materials laboratory expertise and sound knowledge and understanding of the lab accreditation process.   
  • Ability and experience directing and managing staff
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task
  • Positive experience dealing directly with client representatives
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated and capable of independent work.  Demonstrated ability to work on project teams
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on AMRL and CCRL Laboratory Accreditations
  • Experience on UDOT Laboratory Accreditations and WAQTC/TTQP Program
  • Experience on UDOT CEM project management and project closeout processes
