GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) has an opening for a Geologist/Environmental Scientist with at least 5 to 10 years of experience to support our environmental site investigation and remediation practice in our Lansdale, Pennsylvania office. The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced environmental consulting professional with strong technical skills, regulatory knowledge, and a desire to foster strong client relationships. We expect the qualified individual to have experience in geology, or related environmental science, and be capable of planning, coordinating, and performing projects in compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
As a Geologist / Environmental Scientist, you will work as part of a team of dedicated project managers and a staff of interrelated professionals under the guidance of a Principal. You will assist with managing environmental investigations and remediation projects to ensure that it is safely completed on time and within scope and budget. Key Duties:
- Planning, organizing and conducting environmental site investigations
- Overseeing and documenting environmental remedial actions
- Conducting/reviewing technical analyses/calculations
- Performing/reviewing environmental site assessments
- Developing health and safety plans and managing implementation and compliance with GZA Health and Safety programs, policies, and procedures during on-site activities
- Monitoring subcontractor performance for compliance with contractual agreements and budgets
- Preparing environmental reports and work plans with Project Manager and Principal guidance and review
- Managing and mentoring GZA staff of project-level scientists and engineers
- Providing business development support and assisting in proposal preparation
- Communicating effectively and efficiently with clients and team members
- Availability to work Monday through Friday and some evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel locally and regionally
- GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related Environmental Science discipline (Master’s Degree a plus)
- Professional Licensure or Registration a plus
- 5+ years of experience at consulting engineering firms and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations of Pennsylvania and New Jersey
- Ability to perform and manage field exploration and testing tasks and activities
- Experience executing a wide range of environmental site investigation and site remediation projects
- Strong interest in safety
- Self-starter, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and direction
- Demonstrate professional judgment, consistency, strong attention to detail, and background of high-quality work products
- Demonstrate performance of independent analysis, problem solving and strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
- Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hr refresher status
- A valid driver’s license in good standing
