DESCRIPTION

  • Responsibilities will include working on a team of engineers with design and production of highway/grading, highway drainage, and construction staging plans.    
  • Additional roles for candidate include assisting the design team with project bid documents, including plans, estimates, and specifications.  Specific civil engineering tasks include horizontal and vertical geometric design, preparation of design calculations, quantity calculations, construction specifications, and preparation of construction cost estimates.
  • Daily communication with the Project and Task Managers on key issues and project progress.
  • Produces plans, designs, and analyzes data on civil roadway engineering projects
  • Prepares moderately complex studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Prepares quantities and construction cost estimates
  • Prepares construction drawings
  • Occasionally visits work site(s), reporting findings to more experienced engineers and/or project managers
  • Communicates with clients regarding project issues, holds and attends meetings
  • Assists with defining scope of work and man-hour requirements
  • Assists project managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring that project/task schedules and budgets are met
  • Responsible for ensuring work efforts for assigned tasks fall within established budgets
  • Coordinates with technicians to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation
  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge through completion of various training initiatives:  attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems/management training
  • Other duties as assigned

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with coursework relevant to working in the transportation engineering field
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience and a California P.E. license, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • Ambition to learn and apply your engineering skills to develop creative problem-solving designs
  • The ability to communicate and effectively participate as part of an engineering team
  • Computer knowledge/experience with the following is a huge plus:  AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation/InRoads/OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $147,000-$177,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

We work with entities to enhance and maintain roadways across the country to serve all modes of transportation. For nearly 80 years, we have helped to shape America’s highway network. We provide comprehensive highway planning, design and construction services from conceptual and preliminary engineering studies through final design, construction management, inspection and closeout.
