  • Plan and design highway and roadway projects, including geometric layouts, pavement design, intersections, and drainage systems, while prioritizing factors such as traffic flow, safety, and environmental impact.
  • Actively support Project Managers and may also assume the role of a Project Manager, overseeing the project team and coordinating the efforts of EITs, junior engineers, and design technicians.
  • Conduct thorough QA/QC checks on engineering and technical tasks completed by team members.
  • Play a key role in making significant design decisions tailored to the specific needs of our external customers.
  • Proactively identify and address technical, schedule, or financial issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution from conception to completion.
  • Participate in creating engineering services proposals, including estimating time schedules and costs of the proposed work.
  • Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
  • Independently communicate on technical matters with clients.
  • Act as a technical expert on assigned projects when operating as an individual contributor, and as a Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects when assigned.

Education and Experience  

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one in California.
  • Proven experience in highway roadway design and a strong understanding of industry best practices and standards.
  • Seven or more years of design/engineering experience, demonstrating the ability to sign engineering documents as an authorized agent of the company.
  • Strong technical verbal and technical writing skills with the ability to read technical literature and engineering plans.
  • Proficiency in operating technical analysis equipment and computer systems.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply professional knowledge to both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.

The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location.
