We are looking for dynamic team members who want to grow with our organization.DESCRIPTIONMichael Baker International's Public Works/Transportation Team in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a Project Engineer!

  • Responsibilities will include working on a team of engineers designing transportation engineering, traffic engineering, and public works type projects, including, but not limited to: roadway design, active transportation/complete streets, ADA improvements, drainage, and water quality.
  • Additional roles for candidate include assisting the design team with project bid documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates.  Specific civil engineering tasks include horizontal and vertical geometric design, Civil 3D modelling, preparation of design calculations, quantity calculations, construction specifications, and preparation of construction cost estimates.
  • May provide support services for municipal agencies and charged to act as an extension of staff in limited situations.
  • Occasionally visits work site(s), reporting findings to more experienced engineers and/or project managers.
  • Communicates with clients regarding project issues, holds and attends meetings.
  • Assists with defining scope of work and man-hour requirements.
  • Assists project managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring that project/task schedules and budgets are met.
  • Coordinates with technicians and assistant engineers to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation
  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge through completion of various training. initiatives:  attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems/management training
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with coursework/experience relevant to working in the Public Works/Transportation field
  • Active Transportation and Complete Streets experience is a plus.
  • Minimum 4 years (preferred 6+ years) of relevant work experience
  • EIT required
  • California P.E. license preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil3D, Microsoft Office
  • An eagerness to learn and apply your engineering skills to develop creative problem-solving designs
  • The ability to communicate and effectively participate as part of an engineering team
  • Computer knowledge/experience with the following is a huge plus:  Microstation/InRoads/OpenRoads, Microsoft Project

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $90,000-$140,000, This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
