We are seeking a Senior Consultant – Shallow Marine Geohazards Geologist in Durango, CO for remote secondment with an international oil and gas operator.This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in supporting the efforts of an international oil and gas operator and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving offshore drilling hazards, marine pipeline geohazards, and site investigations.Ranked by ENR in the top 20 design firms for the environment, Geosyntec is internationally known for its technical leadership, broad experience, and exceptional client service, our clients ask us to address their new ventures and most challenging problems involving the environment, natural resources, and civil infrastructure.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support on the selection of geophysical and geological methods for characterization of the seafloor in the areas of interest around oil and gas developments.
  • Provide technical support for development of geophysical and geological site investigation and characterization strategies.
  • Review technical proposals for geophysical and geological site characterization.
  • Use technical software such as IHS Kingdom Suite and SonarWiz to review and interpret geophysical data.
  • Identify and quantify risks associated with geohazards to seafloor facilities.
  • Work with project manager/engineers to formulate a geologic model and a report outline for text completion.
  • Communicate with project manager(s) on project progress, goals, concerns, and deadlines on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Communicate fluently in meetings with data acquisition contractors, and co-workers on progress goals, and deadlines of projects and lead project meetings.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in geology or earth sciences. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology or earth sciences (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of marine geohazards identification and characterization experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Direct experience with offshore development projects and offshore site-investigation techniques. (required)
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with internal processes of international oil and gas operators. (required)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. (required)
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities and communication skills. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $130,000.00
  • Maximum Salary: $175,000.00
