Senior Transportation Engineer/Project Manager

This is a unique opportunity for a senior level individual to participate in helping our current clients and building new relationships through business development.Responsibilities of the position are but are not limited to:

• Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise on transportation projects
• Build MicroStation and AutoCAD capabilities in the firm
• Develop and manage project delivery scopes, schedules and budgets
• Project delivery/management of transportation projects
• Leading transportation design projects
• Supporting business development on behalf of GHD, position for new work and secure projects
• Managing sub consultants
• Client relations
• Coaching and mentoring junior staff

The Ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:

• Strong foundation across multiple software design platforms – experience with both AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation
• Ability to expand and grow relationships/business in transportation and other sectors within the US west region
• Strong business acumen to position for and secure transportation engineering projects for existing and new GHD clients within US west region
• Ability to mentor staff in a multi-disciplinary team environment and share skills and knowledge with staff and peers.
• Ability to lead and prepare proposals and bids for projects and new clients
• Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating and solving problems
• Robust written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely.
• Previous experience as a technical lead/designer on rail projects in southern California is highly desired
• Experience and familiarity with Caltrans and other agency standards is required
• Strong team player, with the ability to work independently when required, cooperative in open sharing of information and knowledge with team
• Demonstrated portfolio of municipal infrastructure, transportation & site development projects
• Good time management skills, ability to handle conflicting priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California.
• 20+ years of experience with solid technical knowledge and skills across the transportation & municipal engineering, including a strong background in planning & design; construction experience a plus.
