As an Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer or Scientist working out of one of our Florida Branch offices (Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville), you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. You will focus on solving our clients’ water quality challenges related to watershed management, stormwater design, floodplain management, water quality evaluation, NPDES, TMDLs, compliance, etc. and should expect to develop experience related to field assessment and sampling, hydraulic modeling, water quality assessment, spatial analysis, report preparation, design plans development and permitting.Our clients ask us to address their new ventures and most challenging problems involving the environment, natural resources, and civil infrastructure. Learn more by visiting www.geosyntec.com.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIs this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of small and large watersheds, including floodplain modeling;
  • Water quality modeling (e.g., organics, inorganics, radionuclides);
  • Design of constructed wetlands, sedimentation basins, stormwater BMPs, and related hydraulic structures;
  • Conceptualize structural and non-structural measures to address nutrient reduction;
  • Erosion and sediment control design and field implementation;
  • Field investigations and construction support services;
  • Development of construction documents;
  • Spatial analysis of environmental data and database management; and
  • Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.  We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. 
  • Fieldwork:  Up to 50%
  • Overnight travel:  Up to 10%

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.). (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering or natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.). (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 1 year of research or related experience. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
