Job Title: Driller
Job Description


The Driller will be responsible for driving to various field sites within a 200-mile radius of the Baton Rouge office, conducting initial core drilling for core samples, and leading a crew of 2-3 team members.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Act as dispatcher or coordinator to lower-level drillers/exploration teams in larger offices, scheduling work and maintaining production with equipment assigned to staff.
  • Lead two or three-person crews on projects requiring borings to depths greater than 100 feet.
  • Collaborate with the geotechnical department on work scope and pricing proposals.
  • Oversee data collection and field interpretation of data for more complex projects if trained in CPT.
  • Meet with utility companies to verify that boring locations are clear of underground utilities.
  • Perform drilling tasks on geotechnical and environmental projects using assigned safety gear for OSHA Level D, D modified, C, and/or B projects.
  • Ensure the safety of the drill crew and proper use of assigned safety gear during project execution.
  • Serve as a liaison between the office and client, and calculate quantities for payment on a daily basis.
  • Drive all company vehicles and operate all combination auger and mud rotary drill rigs and/or CPT equipment.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of geotechnical or environmental drilling experience.
  • Experience running a CME or certification after conversion to a full-time employee is preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Driller license is a plus.
  • Skills in geotechnical and environmental drilling, soil sampling, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Experience with utility construction and directional drilling.

Work Environment

You will be part of a team of 2-3, managing driller helpers and traveling across the states of Missouri and Kansas. The role involves frequent travel and fieldwork, requiring adherence to safety standards and the use of appropriate safety gear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baton Rouge, LA.

Pay and Benefits


The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
