Forensic Structural Engineer (PE) needed in Texas to join a multi-disciplinary forensic engineering and building consulting practice. You will perform failure analysis, cause-and-origin evaluations, and construction defect work across residential, commercial, industrial, and marine assets.Company summary:Employee-owned, engineer-led consulting firm specializing in forensic engineering, structural engineering, building envelope consulting, restoration consulting, and MEP advisory. The firm emphasizes technical excellence, sustainable workloads, and long-term professional growth.Key responsibilities:* Conduct field investigations to document as-built conditions and structural damage resulting from natural events such as wind, water, fire, seismic activity, and earth movement, as well as human-induced issues including design and construction errors and omissions.* Apply building codes and structural behavior expertise (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS) to complete cause-and-origin evaluations and develop repair scope recommendations.* Review construction drawings, specifications, and building envelope documentation for multiple structural systems including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, roofing, and façade assemblies.* Prepare clear, defensible technical reports and communicate findings with clients, contractors, and code officials.* Manage several projects simultaneously, ensuring quality deliverables that meet schedule and budget expectations.* Support litigation-related services including expert reports, mediation or arbitration involvement, and deposition support as experience develops; travel may be required on short notice.Qualifications:* B.S. in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.* Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license obtained through the NCEES examination; ability to obtain additional state licenses is a plus.* Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering experience, either in design or forensic work, with strong understanding of structural behavior and construction practices.* Field experience evaluating building systems and building envelopes; strong written and verbal communication skills.* Experience providing litigation support (depositions, testimony, mediation, arbitration) is preferred but not required.Benefits and perks:* Competitive base salary with annual bonus eligibility.* Employee ownership through ESOP participation and a strong 401(k) employer match.* Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.* Paid time off and company-paid holidays.* Access to mentorship, advanced technical training, and support for multi-state licensure and expert-witness development.* A culture focused on technical quality, predictable workloads, and long-term career development.If you are ready to grow your forensic structural engineering career and contribute to complex, meaningful investigations, please submit your resume and a brief overview of your relevant experience in failure analysis and code application.
