Description
- Design and prepare plans, calculations, and specifications for transportation structures, including highway bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and other miscellaneous structures per AASHTO and ODOT requirements.
- Provide analysis and load rating for existing structures and recommend improvement and strengthening strategies through knowledge and application of appropriate specifications, standards, and design criteria,
- Collaborate with other professionals from various departments and disciplines and discuss requirements with clients to execute projects.
- Perform work as part of a team or as a task/project manager, in accordance with the project budget and schedule limitations under moderate supervision.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates, the scope of work documents, and proposals and assist other Project/Task Managers with similar duties.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to the project team to ensure quality technical services.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with quality control standards and client requirements.
- Participate in occasional site visits in construction sites and remote outdoor work environments.
- Occasional travel to client meetings and site visits with possible overnight stays.
- Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area.
- Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Leads tasks and projects of moderately complex scopes.
- Develops plans, specifications, and other project documents.
- Selects appropriate principles of engineering economics, and probability and statistics to analyze risk in a complex engineering problem.
- 8+ years
- B.S. or M.S. Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
- Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff. Predominantly plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
- Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects.
- Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments.
- Mentor direct reports and other engineers.
- Demonstrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering, including creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability.
- Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language.
- Considers the needs of diverse project stakeholders.
- Leads project meetings and represents the organization in communications pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments.
- Analyzes and selects principles of formal communication, effective teamwork, and various pathways to developing leadership.
