Discover your full potential – join us to advance your career while leaving a lasting legacy.Position Summary:This is an entry-level Engineer in Training (EIT) position located in Tetra Tech’s Oakland, San Luis Obispo, or Irvine, CA offices. The role supports a wide range of municipal, commercial, and Federal Department of Defense projects and includes participation in topographic, boundary, monitoring, and GPS control surveys. The position blends field data collection with office-based survey and drafting support under the guidance of licensed land surveyors and project managers.Essential Functions:- Assist with the collection of survey data in accordance with industry standards, client specifications, scopes of work, and project work plans.
- Support field survey operations under the direction of a Survey Party Chief, ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Perform survey office work including mapping, drafting exhibits and plats, and assisting with legal descriptions under the supervision of a licensed land surveyor.
- Provide technical support to CADD operators and design staff, including translating field conditions into accurate plans and exhibits.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and project managers to understand project requirements and deliverables.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment while continuing to learn new tools, technologies, and survey methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with applicable survey codes, standards, and industry practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Willingness to perform both office and field work as needed.
- The position involves both office and field work.
- Field duties may include standing or walking for extended periods, traversing uneven terrain, and handling survey equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.
- The role may occasionally require travel to project sites within California and the Southwest region.
- Work is performed in a combination of office and outdoor settings. Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, rough or uneven surfaces, active construction sites, and roadway environments. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and is required for all field activities.
