Job Description

Working with our Clients we deliver added value and solutions to challenging problems.Our Heritage consultancy team offers a wide range of services to assist in the successful submission and determination of planning applications including the constraints reports, impact assessments, heritage statements, archaeological desk-based assessments, design of works, tall building assessments, listed building and scheduled monument consent applications, historic building conservation advice and expert witness services. We work within three main sectors: Property & Development, Infrastructure & Utilities, and Minerals & Mining.The right individual will have at least 2 - 3 years of professional consultancy experience working in the historic environment and have experience in producing Desk Based Assessments, Heritage Impact Assessments and Written Schemes of Investigations, undertaking site visits and carrying out archive research. Ideally, you will have experience in dealing with all heritage assets and considerations: both built and archaeological.Reporting to the team lead, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Write Desk Based Assessments, Heritage Impact Assessments and Written Schemes of Investigation.
  • Conduct site walk over surveys.
  • Conduct visits to archive offices for research purposes.
  • Providing advice on heritage and conservation matters.
  • Assist the team leads with the preparation of fee proposals.
  • Be an active member of the Heritage and Archaeology team, working collaboratively with the wider team across the business.
     

Experience

  • Degree in relevant discipline (Archaeology, Heritage, Conservation etc)Comprehensive understanding of the historic environment in the planning process.
  • Good understanding of legislation and planning policy.
  • Good technical report writing.
  • Experience of preparing Desk-Based assessments, Heritage Impact Assessments, Written Schemes of Investigation.
     

Desirable            

  • Field Archaeology experience
  • Experience of working with designated heritage assets.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Building recording experience.
  • GIS Experience.
  • Post-Graduate qualification in Heritage or Conservation related discipline
  • Membership of Professional Institute (CiFA, IHBC)
