Job Description

YOUR ROLE
Senior Civil Engineer - Land Development is a role that manages complex engineering projects across multiple disciplines, working closely with land development leaders to provide engineering solutions in all aspects involving both residential and commercial land and site development projects, grading projects, roadways, pedestrian systems, water and sanitary sewer systems, and storm water management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage small to mid-size projects, client and contractor agreements and budgets
  • Write and prepare technical engineering reports, plans and specifications for projects
  • Consult with clients to plan and develop strategies for their civil engineering design and support needs
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects
  • Evaluate designs to determine project feasibility, estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, and labor requirements
  • Assist with construction inspection of project sites to monitor progress and ensure design specifications are met
  • Engineering design for site-civil infrastructure elements
  • Mentor less experienced engineers as needed
  • Engage with public agencies to provide support, permitting, and approval of project needs.
  • Read and interpret construction plans to assist with client management and effectively communicate to answer inquiries from colleagues, clients, contractors, or the public.

  • Use hands to handle tools and/or controls; reach with hands and arms
  • Talk or hear and communicate clearly
  • The employee must: Frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similar field
  • Professional Engineering Registration (PE) for the state of ND or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • 8+ years of successful design and consulting experience within Civil Engineering; Land Development is highly preferred.
  • You have strong technical skills and experience using Autodesk Civil 3D, XP-SWMM, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, StormCAD and other related programs.
  • You have successfully worked in teams and have outstanding listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to advocate for Civil Engineering field and enjoy sharing knowledge, giving presentations, and encouraging students to explore it as a career.


A BIT MORE INFORMATIONLocationThis position is based in our Minot, ND office; however occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.
Salary & Benefit InformationThis is a full-time exempt position with a pay range of $80,000-$110,000 annually, depending on experience, plus a full benefits package. As an additional benefit, Ackerman-Estvold compensates salaried individuals for overtime at the base rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.
