JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTIONThe Roadway Engineer will provide project active leadership for the successful delivery of roadway projects within our Cary, NC office. We are looking for a candidate possessing strong verbal and written skills, as well as the ability to lead design efforts on transportation projects. Specific leadership characteristics will include:

  • Responsible for developing design plans, calculations, variances and exceptions, cost estimates, and final bid packages
  • Project experience with providing engineering design services for traditional design bid-build projects and design build highway projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the design of specific roadway tasks
  • Willingness to help create and foster a team environment
  • Assistance in marketing pursuits by developing concepts, and providing technical support on statements of qualifications
  • Experience with NCDOT on traditional design bid-build projects and/or design-build highway projects
  • Possess strong a verbal, written, presentation and excellent client management skills; demonstrated ability leading and managing the design and detailing of complex transportation projects; as well as being goal oriented, quality focused, and have demonstrated success with creating and fostering a team environment.
  • Collaborate with the transportation staff to develop transportation projects including but not limited to roadway, bridge, rail, transportation planning, traffic control, signing, pavement marking, knowledge of hydraulic design, and preliminary design for environmental documents.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-8 years of related experience
  • BSCE in Civil Engineering,
  • Professional engineering license Preferred
  • Experience with NCDOT on roadway projects is preferred.
  • Proficient with MicroStation software programs.
  • Proficiency with Geopak and/or OpenRoads preferred.
  • Experience producing drainage designs for urban and rural project

The approximate compensation range for this position is 73K to 100K. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
