Job Description

  • Working knowledge of mathematics and engineering principles to perform structural design calculations (beam design, reinforced concrete and steel structures design and analysis) for projects including bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects under the oversight of a senior engineer
  • Opportunity to develop design sketches, computer models, detailed plans and similar technical work for bridge engineering tasks
  • Learn to read and develop contract documents for bridge design projects including design calculations, developments of plans, specifications, quantities, and estimates, and submittal of reviews during construction
  • Research design options and codes and discuss with the project manager
  • Gain experience and assist with structure field inspections and condition assessments of transportation structures and facilities
  • Prepare clear and concise Daily Inspection Reports to document the work performed; the manpower, material, and equipment used; determine field measure and calculate quantities of work completed and document other pertinent information

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s optional, in Civil or Structural Engineering with zero to two years of relevant experience
  • EIT certification or the ability to obtain an EIT certification within one year
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A highly motivated and responsible individual with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and writing skills
  • Experience with CAD software such as Microstation or AutoCAD (preferred)
  • Experience with analytical software such as SAP, CSI Bridge, LARSA 4D, etc. (prederred)
