At KPFF, we are dedicated to fostering the growth and success of our staff, empowering our engineers to set ambitious goals for personal and organizational achievements to unlock their full potential.We provide civil engineering services to both private and public sectors with projects in a vast market sector, including; Commercial, Retail, Mixed-Use, Hospitality, Multi-Family Housing, Parks & Recreational Facilities, Health Care, K-12 Schools, Higher Education, Military, Transportation, and Public Agencies.The scope of our services may include site assessment, due diligence, master planning, entitlement, grading & drainage design, hydrology study, stormwater quality design, utility improvements, street improvement plans, public utilities, and technical studies for environmental impact reports.  Additionally, we provide project management and prime contract work.Job Overview:Our Orange County office has a senior civil engineer opportunity to make a significant impact on our diverse portfolio of land development projects. As a valued team member, you will play a critical role in managing and executing land development projects from conception to completion. Leveraging your extensive experience and technical expertise, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. Your ability to oversee design processes, solve complex engineering challenges, and navigate regulatory requirements will contribute to the overall success of our projects and client satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the design and development of land development projects, focusing on grading and drainage design, low impact development (LID), and water and sanitary sewer design.
  • Conduct hydrology studies and prepare SWPPP documents to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout all project phases, from concept design to construction completion.
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, landscape architects, and MEP professionals, to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, understanding their needs and objectives and effectively communicating project progress, design concepts, and solutions.
  • Oversee and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Take overall responsibility for the design of specific projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and successful outcomes.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with design plans and specifications.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate within a teamwork environment.
  • Strong client-focused mindset, prioritizing client satisfaction and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Knowledge of the latest versions of the California Building Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, American with Disabilities Act, local regulations, standards, and other applicable design and construction standards for major site development projects in California.
  • Proficiency in utilizing common computer software programs for civil engineering design, including AutoCAD, Civil3D, Hydrology and Hydraulic software, WaterCAD, Flowmaster, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
  • Demonstrated experience in land development, including responsibilities such as design coordination, permitting, and construction administration.
  • Familiarity with design coordination among various disciplines to achieve integrated project solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage projects, demonstrating overall design responsibility and successful project outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of construction administration practices, ensuring project compliance and successful implementation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while working on a computer, reviewing plans, or conducting site visits.
  • Ability to move around client and work sites, climb ladders, and traverse uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds of equipment or materials.
