Description

Responsibilities: 

  • Works with Construction Managers to evaluate buildings for the presence of potentially hazardous building materials.
  • Plans, executes, and reports on asbestos, lead, and hazardous building material inspections, monitoring, and abatement projects.
  • Conducts asbestos, lead and hazardous material building surveys in accordance with EPA and State regulations.
  • Performs asbestos monitoring in accordance with EPA and State regulations.
  • Conducts oversite and on-site management (as applicable) of asbestos, lead, hazardous materials, environmental remediation, and demolition projects.
  • Performs unsupervised field tasks, such as material assessments, sample logging, building drawings, sample labeling, etc.
  • Gathers data and other information to be used in the preparation of reports; compiles and organizes environmental data collected by others.
  • Will be responsible for analytical data review, interpretation, and report preparation.
  • Ideal candidate will possess the following professional traits:
    • ability to multi-task, take initiative and be highly motivated, work with a team of diverse engineers, technicians, clients, and contractors, adhere to project deadlines, and demonstrate a good work ethic. Individual would function within engineering design teams involved in a variety of private and public sector projects.
  • Experience related to construction, demolition, building sciences, asbestos, and lead-based paint is a plus.

Special Skills/Requirements 

  • Candidate should have an interest in building systems and construction.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction, work independently or on a team.
  • Experience in preparing field documentation, project specifications, and reports a plus.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday and some evenings and weekends as warranted by project demands.
  • Ability to travel overnight as warranted by project demands.
  • Candidates should have the capacity to work outdoors in all seasons through various kinds of weather.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.
