Job Description

  Are we the road to your future? Volkert is employee owned and a Top 100 design firm, committed to delivering the future of infrastructure in three key areas of service: Design + EngineeringPlanning + Environmental, and Program + Construction Management. We are currently searching for a talented Structural Bridge Engineer in our West Gulf Region located in Little Rock, ArkansasWhat you’ll be doing:

  • Perform calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
  • Review calculations and design details developed by others
  • Perform load ratings on bridges of various type, size, and complexity
  • Prepare structural drawings in MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Bridge inspections
  • Review shop drawings and other related construction submittals
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Cost estimating for various structural elements
  • Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
  • Working closely and effectively communicating with team members

What you need to have:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program. M.S. in Structural Engineering a plus
  • 3-7 years of engineering experience in bridge design
  • Course level or recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design
  • EIT certification is required
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) in Arkansas or ability to obtain is preferred
  • Structural Engineering License (SE) in Arkansas or ability to obtain is preferred
  • Familiarity with bridge analysis software, MicroStation, or AutoCAD is preferred
  • Strong skills using MS Excel and MS Word
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must have the ability to immediately work in the United States on a full-time permanent basis
