As an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer in San Diego, California you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving site characterization; landfill design and construction; earth retaining structures; deep and soft/weak foundations; dams and water containment structures; forensic investigations and litigation support; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; numerical analysis of stability and deformation; and geohazard / earthquake characterization / mitigation, while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:
- Conducting geotechnical field investigations;
- Fieldwork support;
- Monitoring heavy civil construction projects;
- Performing and reviewing engineering calculations;
- Earthquake engineering;
- Landfill design and permitting;
- Remediation design;
- Dam and levee evaluations;
- Data analysis;
- Developing construction documents; and
- Writing and reviewing engineering reports.

- Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
- Fieldwork: Up to 50%
- Overnight travel: Up to 25%

- Bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering or geology. (required)
- Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering or related field. (preferred)
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. (preferred)
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Prior internship experience in geotechnical engineering consulting. (valuable)
- Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as LPILE, Slope/W (or similar equivalent), and other Geostudio programs (or similar equivalent, i.e., RocScience). (preferred)
- Technical experience in geotechnical, geology, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software. (preferred)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $74,615 / Maximum Salary: $93,270 (San Diego)
