Job Description

  We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Bridge Engineer in our Annapolis, MD, office. We currently have numerous design and inspection projects for movable and fixed bridges in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed plans for new and rehabilitation bridge designs
  • Perform engineering design calculations
  • Develop contract specifications, construction cost estimates, and preparation of contract bid documents
  • Lead a team of structural engineers and drafters; coordinate with other project disciplines on design and inspection tasks
  • Perform field inspections to evaluate existing conditions, document findings, and record measurements in the field
  • Develop inspection reports, inspection field sketches in CAD, photo appendices, and inspection finding recommendations
  • Operate inspection equipment (underbridge inspection vehicles, bucket trucks, access lifts, etc.)
  • Assist with preparation of task proposals

Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, Structural concentration is preferred
  • Professional Engineering license required
  • Five to 10 years of experience in transportation projects for State Agencies in the Mid-Atlantic Region preferred (MD, VA, DC, DE, and/or NC)
  • Experience with current AASHTO design specifications, design procedures, bridge standards, and details, and structural computer models
  • Experience with FHWA Inventory and Element Level data collection
  • Previous bridge, culvert, ancillary highway structures, and/or tunnel inspection experience
  • FHWA/NHI Bridge Inspection Certification
  • FHWA/NHI Tunnel Inspection Certification a plus
  • OSHA, SPRAT, or equivalent training a plus
  • Good project management, technical writing, and communication skills
  • The ability to develop CAD drawings in Microstation and AutoCAD
  • The ability to develop proposals, schedules, and manage tasks independently is preferred
