We are seeking a Senior Principal – Ports and Harbors Specialist in (Mid-Atlantic/Northeast). This senior level position is for a highly motivated individual who is established in the ports and harbors market. The candidate will join the Waterfront Improvement High Growth Area (HGA) leadership team focused on expanding business and services offerings for Geosyntec’s commercial and industrial waterfront clients and identifying new clients in the ports and harbors market. You must have an entrepreneurial attitude, and enthusiasm for supporting business development and technical efforts to expand Geosyntec’s market share. This position supports the creation and implementation of new strategies by providing strategic solutions to our clients’ most complex problems.   • Work with the HGA leadership, develop strategic and business plans for growing successful engineering and consulting business focused on U.S. ports and harbors, with an initial emphasis on the eastern U.S
  • Support strategic client/business development pursuits and expand BD opportunities in other areas of the Waterfront HGA, including developing federal opportunities with the United States Army Corps of Engineers Corps (USACE) under existing Geosyntec contract vehicles.
  • Provide strategy and guidance for pursuing opportunities across multiple business lines with agencies and municipalities receiving infrastructure funding
  • Actively participate in the American Association of Port Authorities
  • Support projects with climate change and resiliency issues.
  • Support strategic pursuits and identifying opportunities with infrastructure investment on environmental and engineering projects
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to repeat business
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, business administration and marketing or other applicable related degree. (required)
  • Advanced degree. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 15 years of professional experience in environmental field including port and harbor development and navigation dredging or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Experience in strategic planning and stakeholder engagement (required) 
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including strategic planning, permitting, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required) 
  • Experience with navigation dredging, beneficial reuse, and restoration projects (required)
  • Experience working with port authorities (required)
  • Ability and willingness to travel. (required) 
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
