  Geosyntec is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to join our team in Houston, Texas. The role will assist with sample collection of diverse materials including, but not limited to, soil, sediment, water, and air for environmental tests; compile construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data related to landfill and environmental remediation construction projects, provide neat, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all field-related activities to senior level project personnel; and provide additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public sector client base. The role requires the ability to comprehend construction plans and specifications and a willingness to perform extensive fieldwork and travel for extensive periods of time, including overnights, weekends, and holidays; and a strong willingness to work outdoors with interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field.Our clients ask us to address their new ventures and most challenging problems involving the environment, natural resources, and civil infrastructure. • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and remediation system O&M;
• Monitor activities on job sites to assure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g. technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.);
• Provide CQA monitoring on several types of construction and/or environmental activities on enviro-civil construction sites;
• Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules & progress reports;
• Assure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
• Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings;
• Assist in the preparation of the final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices;
• Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures; and
• Perform tasks in other company practice areas including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed.

• Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional and technical development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our staff to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
• Fieldwork: Up to 100%
• Overnight travel: Up to 100%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED). (required)
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 4 years of applicable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Experience with multi-media sampling including soil, water, and air (preferred).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
• Practical field experience conducting operation and maintenance of mechanical systems including simple troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems. (preferred)
• Exposure to the execution of in-situ and ex-situ remediation projects technologies such as chemical injection technologies, pump and treat systems, and landfill gas recovery systems (preferred).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word software programs. (required)
• Technical experience in construction services, geotechnical, environmental, or related engineering disciplines. (preferred)
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
• Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation, for business travel. (required)
