Responsibilities
Join a growing team responsible for advancing large-scale power and energy infrastructure projects across the development lifecycle. This position plays a key role in evaluating technical solutions, managing project risks, and guiding projects from early-stage planning through permitting, financing, and handoff to construction.
- Provide technical leadership during early-stage development of utility-scale power infrastructure projects, including generation, transmission, distribution, energy storage, and related grid assets.
- Evaluate grid configurations, identify reliability risks, and recommend resiliency solutions such as dual-source feeds, transfer schemes, looped systems, and microgrid capabilities.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and development plans.
- Lead coordination meetings with project teams, consultants, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Oversee compliance with project agreements and key contractual obligations.
- Support technology evaluation and selection by assessing equipment options, vendor capabilities, lead times, supply chain risks, and overall project fit.
- Prepare conceptual Class 3-5 cost estimates covering equipment, construction, engineering, and owner costs with appropriate contingencies.
- Coordinate land surveys, title reviews, and other development-related due diligence activities.
- Build and maintain project schedules, identifying critical path items, major milestones, and long-lead equipment requirements.
- Present technical evaluations, risk analyses, cost estimates, and project recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Participate in contractor procurement and selection efforts alongside construction teams.
- Assist with permitting activities and support project readiness through pre-construction.
- Transition fully developed projects to execution teams for construction and delivery.
- Support financing and due diligence processes by providing technical documentation and project information.
- Manage external consultants, contractors, and specialized resources throughout project development.
- Communicate project risks, opportunities, and recommendations to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Assist with project pipeline tracking, reporting, and strategic development initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience supporting utility-scale power, electrical infrastructure, or energy development projects with exposure to interconnection, system planning, cost estimating, and project development.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical expertise within utility-scale power systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of transmission, substation, distribution, generation, and energy storage systems, including interconnection processes and applicable industry standards.
- Experience with thermal power generation systems and associated auxiliary, emissions control, and plant support systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop conceptual cost estimates, project budgets, schedules, and development plans for large infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently while collaborating within cross-functional teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience navigating competing priorities and resolving project challenges.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25-50% based on project needs.
- Familiarity with power system analysis tools such as PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSCAD, ETAP, or similar software is a plus.
- Experience working with CRM platforms, reporting tools, and project performance metrics is preferred.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic project development environment.
