Senior Plumbing Estimator

The Role
We are seeking a Senior Plumbing Estimator with a strong background in large‑scale commercial plumbing projects to lead detailed take‑offs, pricing, and bid strategy from concept through final submission.This role requires hands‑on estimating experience on plumbing‑only scopes, with demonstrated responsibility for projects valued at $20M+. You will play a critical role in securing new work while supporting project teams with accurate budgets and cost guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed plumbing estimates from schematic design through GMP and hard bid
- Independently estimate plumbing‑only projects with values up to and exceeding $20M
- Perform Qty take‑offs for piping, fixtures, equipment, and specialty plumbing systems
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents for accuracy and constructability
- Develop pricing using labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor inputs
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Lead bid reviews, value engineering exercises, and scope clarifications
- Identify risks, exclusions, and assumptions within estimates
- Support project transitions from estimating to operations post‑award
Required Experience & Skills
- 10+ years of plumbing estimating experience in commercial construction
- Proven track record of estimating $20M+ plumbing scopes (plumbing only, not combined MEP)
- Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods
- Experience with healthcare, education, industrial, or large commercial projects preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications in detail
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Proficiency with estimating software and Excel
- Strong communication skills for internal and external collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Background with Design‑Build and Design‑Bid‑Build plumbing projects
- Experience supporting preconstruction, budgeting, and value engineering efforts
- Familiarity with local and regional plumbing codes and standards
- Leadership or mentoring experience within estimating teams
