Job Description
Geotechnical Division Lead - Hybrid (3+ Days In-Office)
Confidential Opportunity | High Priority Hire
We're partnering with a well-established, multi-office engineering firm to hire a Geotechnical Lead Engineer who can start, formalize, and grow a geotechnical division spanning multiple offices. This is a highly visible role for a senior geotechnical professional ready to shape standards, mentor teams, and elevate geotechnical services across the business.
The Opportunity
You'll serve as the go-to geotechnical leader company-wide, establishing a formal geotechnical program while supporting existing client relationships and internal teams across three office locations. This role suits a seasoned technical leader-or a strong "step-up" candidate-who has led investigations and wants broader ownership.
What You'll Do
- Build and lead a geotechnical service line across three offices, including delivery standards, QA/QC practices, and internal workflows.
- Lead geotechnical investigations from scoping through execution, reporting, and construction support.
- Deliver practical analyses and recommendations, including slope stability and settlement analysis, with a field-informed approach.
- Be client-facing: support existing geotechnical clients, help expand relationships, and act as the internal trusted advisor.
- Support growth via proposal input, project setup, and budget awareness (preferred).
What We're Looking For (Must-Haves)
- BS in Civil Engineering or related with a geotechnical focus (MS strongly preferred/expected).
- Demonstrated experience leading geotechnical investigations and acting as a technical lead (not solely an individual contributor).
- Strong applied geotechnical judgement-practical, constructible recommendations (not purely academic).
Strongly Preferred
- Prior experience establishing or managing a geotechnical program/service line.
- Proposal development, project setup, and budgeting exposure.
- Ambition and willingness to engage in business development (deep BD track record not required).
- Some civil/site engineering experience to support broader teams as needed.
Work Model / Location
- Hybrid schedule: minimum 3 days per week in-office.
- Must be able to work from one of three offices.
- Fully remote is not available.
Why This Role
If you're a senior geotechnical engineer who wants to build something-lead a program, set standards, influence delivery across offices, and become the face of geotechnical services-this is a rare platform with real runway.
