B&L specializes in transportation engineering, water supply, wastewater management, solid waste management, land planning and site design, environmental services, facilities engineering, land surveying and asset management. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team in our Syracuse office to assist with special projects and joint venture opportunities. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing financial and business operations, ensuring compliance, and developing future project proformas. Financial Management responsibilities will include:
- Invoicing: Prepare and issue invoices to customers from receiving and operations reports;
- Accounts Receivable: Monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments;
- Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices and manage outgoing payments;
- Payroll: Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, as well as Federal and state reporting and compliance.
Accounting duties will include:
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries;
- Project and Construction Accounting: Track project costs, budgets, and financial reporting for construction projects related to biochar facilities;
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management.
Compliance and Auditing duties will include:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards relevant to the organics management industry;
- Audit Support: Assist with external audits and required lender reporting, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
Process Improvement duties will include:
- Financial Processes: Evaluate and improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy;
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for future projects.
