Job Description
An established environmental consulting and engineering firm is seeking an Environmental Project Engineer to join its collaborative team in Parsippany, NJ. This role plays a central part in managing environmental investigation and remediation projects, delivering high‑quality technical services, preparing proposals and reports, conducting research and analyses, overseeing field activities, and supporting staff development. The position offers opportunities to strengthen project management and leadership skills, engage directly with clients, and contribute to a wide range of small and large‑scale environmental projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead environmental due diligence, investigation, and remediation projects
- Conduct complex engineering and environmental analyses
- Supervise field operations and ensure accurate interpretation of data
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established budgets and schedules
- Draft, organize, and edit technical proposals, reports, and related documentation
- Support business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities and participating in client meetings
- Provide oversight, coaching, and mentorship to junior staff; assist with interviewing and hiring
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across various office locations as needed
- Maintain effective, professional communication with clients, contractors, subcontractors, internal staff, and project stakeholders
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering; Master's degree preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
- NJ Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) certification is a plus
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Strong background in environmental due diligence, site investigation, and remedial design
- Experience with environmental compliance programs (e.g., SPCC, wastewater permitting, fuel systems) is beneficial
- Completion of 40‑hour HAZWOPER training, with required annual refreshers, physicals, and respirator fit testing
- Thorough knowledge of New Jersey environmental regulations
- Excellent written, verbal, and public‑speaking communication skills
- Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and sound judgement
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and projects, develop budgets, and lead staff
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as project needs arise
- Reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits, along with a valid driver's license in good standing
