  At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.Your impactJacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Highway/Roadway) to join our Transportation team in Tempe, AZ in Summer 2026, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects and apply your academic knowledge to real-world transportation engineering challenges. You will assist our team in various aspects of highway/roadway design and learn about industry-standard procedures and software. Project opportunities may include supporting the design of interstate highways, freeway interchanges, and major arterial roads. You'll work alongside experienced Engineers and Project Managers, gaining valuable insights into transportation engineering. Your Responsibilities May Include: :  

  • Assist in basic highway/roadway geometric design calculations 
  • Help prepare technical reports and design documentation 
  • Utilizing CADD to prepare various engineering drawings, layouts, and/or models to communicate project details in accordance with established standards and procedures; 

Here's what you'll need

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Completed coursework related to transportation engineering or highway/roadway design

Ideally, You Will Have

  • 3.0 GPA  
  • At least a rising Junior 
  • Familiarity with CAD software, such as MicroStation and AutoCAD 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment 
  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to transportation infrastructure projects 
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
