Job Description

Position Overview:

We are partnered with a National Multidisciplinary Engineering firm seeking a dynamic and experienced Group Leader to spearhead the growth and leadership of their Geotechnical, Construction Materials Testing (CMT), and Inspections team in Raleigh, NC. This is a strategic leadership role aimed at expanding our Raleigh operations to match the scale and success of the Charlotte office. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, business acumen, and a passion for team development to help drive regional growth and excellence in service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of geotechnical engineers, field technicians, and inspectors.
    • Recruit, train, and retain top talent to support growth objectives.
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration.
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of geotechnical, CMT, and inspection services.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
    • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Business Development & Client Engagement
    • Collaborate with business development teams to identify and pursue new opportunities.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
    • Represent the firm in industry events and local professional organizations.
  • Strategic Growth
    • Work closely with senior leadership to align Raleigh's growth trajectory with the Charlotte office.
    • Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand service offerings and market share in the Triangle region.
    • Monitor market trends and adjust strategies to stay competitive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, CMT, and inspections.
  • Proven leadership experience in a consulting or engineering firm.
  • Strong understanding of regional market dynamics and client needs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
