You will work with our team on tasks relating to project coordination, developing Contract Documents using computer-assisted design software, evaluation of existing facilities and so much more.Pave the way for your career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow, and succeed – today and into tomorrow.The Boston office of Jacobs is seeking a summer intern to work in our Structural Transportation Group, with potential to extend based upon available assignments.

  • Employee will perform tasks under supervision of Bridge group staff. 
  • Work will be in a collaborative environment with tasks completed in an interactive setting with continuous guidance and support.
  • Occasional tasks of a routine and repetitive nature may be required.
  • Performance of a variety of duties for the structural department including drafting of construction plans, providing construction phase services (shop drawing and RFI review, preparation of meeting minutes), preparing geometric and structural design calculations, assisting in bridge, tunnel, and facility inspections (taking field notes, drafting and editing final reports) and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Exposure to various software packages including AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Adobe, Bluebeam, and Mathcad. Limited use of structural analysis software depending on available assignments.
  • Work will include in office and field assignments. Please note in your application or resume if you have any limitations or preferences to perform only daytime, only nighttime, or both types of shifts in field.

Here's what you'll need

  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited university, a Civil Engineering major is required.
  • Demonstrated interest in civil transportation projects or structures. 
  • Developing written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Ability to work well in a group or team atmosphere.
  • Excellent organization and developing critical thinking/problem solving skills. 
  • Must be willing to ask questions and organize thoughts or solutions during tasks.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is required

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
