As a multi-discipline firm, Isett provides a full range of engineering and consulting services, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental, geotechnical, and municipal engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, code enforcement, plan review, construction management, construction materials testing, and grant writing services to clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
We have an opportunity for a client/project-focused Operations Manager with extensive experience in construction special inspections and materials testing to join our team. The position will be based out of a soon to open lab/office space in the Hazleton area. There will be a training period that will take place primarily out of our Lehigh Valley office.
Due to the nature of construction related work, there is a need for this team member to be able to adjust to unexpected changes in schedules and communicate these efficiently with their team and perform field work as needed. They must also be adept at communicating with different groups such as clients, contractors, and other associates.
We’re looking for a self-starter to help launch construction special inspections, materials testing, and quality assurance services within this new region so experience in business development is also a plus. Responsibilities

  • Preparing project proposals, service authorizations, budget estimates, quantity takeoffs, and reports.
  • QA/QC and client distribution of field and laboratory testing reports assuring technical adequacy of all work and maintaining a high quality of deliverables; internal database entry and maintenance.
  • Formulating work/resource/staffing management and scheduling plans.
  • Communicating frequently with Department Head, Project Managers, and field staff to discuss progress schedules, client expectations, project requirements, deadlines, and potential issues.
  • Maintains relationships with client contacts on assigned projects; plays active role and takes initiative in regional business development through networking, participation in presentations, sponsored events, etc.
  • Coordinating project billing/invoices with Department Head and Accounting staff; shares responsibility in a collaborative effort in maintaining/collecting accounts receivable.
  • Regular correspondence with clients regarding field/lab services, scheduling, and project status; monitors cost, billings, services provided respectively to the budget and/or scope of the contract.
  • Assisting the Department Head with Staffing/Personnel tasks including attracting, retaining, training, and developing team members.
  • Adhering to and enforcing Isett Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in the industry and maintains certifications including ACI, Nuclear Density Gauge safety training/experience, ICC special inspector, etc.
  • Strong understanding of field and laboratory testing procedures; experience performing lab testing is a plus.
  • Holds prior project and client management experience.
  • Demonstrates integrity, respect, and professionalism while managing relationships with associates, clients, and contractors.
  • Upholds accountability and responsibility for themselves and fellow associates.
  • Possess fundamental leadership abilities; skilled in mentoring and coaching junior staff.
  • Demonstrated skills in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and following through on commitments.
  • Maintains effective communication skills with timely responsiveness (phone, email, text).
  • Comfortable in an office setting while accepting working outside in diverse weather conditions and on varied terrain as needed; able to stand, walk, reach, balance, and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Detail oriented; possessing strong writing skills and computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, etc.).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include early mornings/late days, and the occasional Saturday or nights.
  • Valid driver's license - for travel to client sites/meetings.
  • Ability to obtain clearances (for PA school projects)
