Job Description

Founded in 1925, Volkert is celebrating a century of serving our employees, clients, partners, and communities.  We are currently searching for an experienced Water Resources/Hydraulics Engineer to support our Mid Atlantic Region located in Virginia Beach, VA.  What you’ll be doing: 

  • Will be responsible for leading the analysis, design, construction administration, and preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications for stormwater projects for various owners, including municipalities, state (VDOT), and federal 
  • Will work independently as well as plan and supervise work of teams of professionals and technicians
  • Position includes client interaction and a commitment to client service
  • Includes business development, proposal preparation client maintenance

What you need to have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering,  Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent related degree is required 
  • 10 - 15 years related experience required 
  • Professional Engineer license required or to be licensed in the next six or twelve months
  • Strong writing, oral communication, and teamwork skills 
  • A mix of technical and project management experience including, but not limited to: 
    1. Virginia Stormwater Management Program 
    2. Modeling 
    3. H&H analysis 
    4. Pump/lift station design and operations 
    5. Erosion and sediment control plans and strategies
    6. Virginia Beach/Hampton Road experience is a plus
    7. Perform technical work in various software applications, including but not limited to MicroStation, Civil 3D, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, and ARC-GIS
    8. Ability to deliver quality projects for a wide range of clients
    9. Land disturbance permits and storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP)
