JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTIONAs part of our Structures Group, you will help deliver excellent bridge engineering services.  You will work with experienced engineers and technicians to inspect and manage bridges of all shapes, sizes and materials to help ensure the safety of the traveling public.  The work may also include the opportunity to assist in bridge rehabilitation and design services.    • The best thing about being a part of Michael Baker’s South Carolina Structures Group is that no two days will be the same.  You will face different challenges every day, some of which will be extraordinarily complex, yet very rewarding.• Many days will be spent in the field as a Team Leader for the inspection of bridges, culverts, noise walls, retaining walls, sign structures, etc.  You will get to spend time at bridge sites all across the beautiful state of South Carolina, with occasional opportunities to support other inspection work across the country, if desired.• Other days will be spent in the office coordinating field work and completing inspection reports, while also sometimes collaborating with the Group in bridge management projects utilizing a variety of applications.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS• Certified NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader • 5-20 years of experience in bridge inspection• Strong organizational and writing skills• Motivated with a solid work ethic• Acumen to work well with co-workers and clients• Proficient in Microsoft Office and similar software• Ability to perform field work, which can include carrying ladders and gear, working at heights, climbing, working in hot or cold weather, etc.PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an ABET accredited institution• Licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer in TrainingCOMPENSATIONThe approximate compensation range for this position is 62 to 90K. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
