Job Description

  The offshore wind service division leverages insights extracted from Geo-data to assist in the planning, design, construction, operation, and upkeep of offshore wind farms in a secure, sustainable, and effective manner. Their proven expertise, alongside their local representation and worldwide knowledge, equips them to back offshore wind farm ventures across the globe.The Senior Geotechnical Engineer is tasked with independently managing projects of varied complexity and breadth. They also guide and support junior engineers through project execution. Moreover, the role involves overseeing site surveys and laboratory initiatives, as well as preparing and supervising engineering reports to ensure adherence to internal technical assurance protocols.Responsibilities:

  • Sets an example by prioritizing Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental protection, ensuring no intentional risk to employees, processes, customers, or communities.
  • Works offshore on geotechnical and geophysical vessels for regional and international projects, usually for 4-6 weeks per assignment, with about 20% of the time spent offshore.
  • Manages a team of four to six engineers and engineering assistants for each project.
  • Works independently on projects of standard to moderate complexity and scope.
  • Plans and carries out standard assignments, using independent judgement in choosing techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Acts as a project professional on larger, more complex projects.
  • Coordinates field and laboratory operations, resolving most issues that arise, and conducts necessary technical or special testing.
  • Conducts routine and special field and laboratory testing and data preparation for each project.
  • Supervises and checks junior engineer's field and laboratory work, including instructions, design parameters, analysis methods, and calculations.
  • Independently evaluates foundation soil parameters.
  • Selects, performs, and checks standard engineering analyses independently.
  • Monitors project budgets, schedules, and performance against KPIs.
  • Helps prepare project invoices and ensures they are executed properly.
  • Supports training efforts and conducts technical workshops.
  • Prepares proposals for engineering and advanced laboratory testing, with support from management, and establishes project pricing.
  • Follows the quality management system and complies with QHSSE requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorised to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Geotechnical Engineering discipline preferred. MS or PhD also preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
  • 4 or more years of geotechnical engineering experience; Marine experience preferred.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and technical software applications.
  • Good engineering judgement.
  • Basic knowledge of sales, pricing, and negotiating.
  • Familiarity with routine geotechnical engineering software preferred (examples include Slope/W or SLIDE, LPILE, APILE, Settle3).
  • Must have a driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
