Job Description

  DescriptionYour role at GEI.GEI is seeking an AutoCAD/Civil3D Designer to support the South Region. This position will be located in our Atlanta, Georgia office, located in the Vinings area. This position will involve the preparation of engineering design drawings for a variety of project types including contaminated site restoration, dams, levees, hydraulic structures, river and stream restoration, building foundations, civil site design, retaining walls, and excavation support systems.Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare detailed Construction Drawings using sketches, photographs, from client or design engineering staff.
  • Create Autodesk Civil3D objects (alignments, surfaces, corridors, ) to expedite drafting and to determine material quantities for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Read and understand surveys.
  • Develop, create, recommend, design new site drawings utilizing company drafting standards and drawing preparation workflow(s).
  • Edit and update existing drawings to conform to the company’s current acceptable drafting and design standards.
  • Create CAD drawings from concept to final design, drawn to scale, suitably detailed to convey the necessary information required for approval.
  • Check and revise any mistakes within drawings.
  • Complete drawings within prescribed time limit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A.S. Degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field, or equivalent experience. B.S. degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and layout of grading plans, heavy civil projects, and roadways, as well as detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures.
  • Working knowledge of building codes and construction practices preferred.
  • Two or more years drafting and design experience with AutoCAD, emphasis on Civil3D design on heavy civil projects preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2016 or higher is required; customization and programming experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Structural 3D drafting and design experience (Revit; BIM software) a plus GIS software experience (GlobalMapper, ESRI, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Candidates must have good oral and written communication skills, possess strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills, and be able to work in a team environment.
