As a multi-discipline firm, Isett provides a full range of engineering and consulting services, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental, geotechnical, and municipal engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, code enforcement, plan review, construction management, construction materials testing, and grant writing services to clients throughout PA and surrounding states.
We have an opportunity for a client-focused Operations Manager specializing in Transportation Engineering to join our municipal engineering team. The position could be based out of any of our offices in eastern or central PA.
Because our employees are usually involved in several projects at one time, involving numerous team members (such as project manager, engineer, and CAD technician/designer), exceptional communications skills and the ability to work well with others is essential.
The best candidate will be a Professional (Civil) Engineer with at least ten years’ experience in roadway design, traffic impact studies, traffic signal design, public storm sewer design, ADA ramp design, PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit submissions, highway and bridge construction, and has proven client satisfaction abilities, and is passionate about growing and developing other team members.
Responsibilities

  • Preparing project proposals, authorization for services, budgets, and reports.
  • Formulating work management/resource management plans and budgets.
  • Approving engineering work, plans, specifications, and estimates prepared in the department.
  • Assuring technical adequacy of all work and maintaining a high quality of engineering.
  • Communicating frequently with Department Head, Project Managers, and Project Engineers to discuss progress schedules, deadlines, and problems.
  • Participating in presentations to clients and maintaining client contacts on assigned projects.
  • Notifying clients of additional work and costs beyond the scope of the contract.
  • Assisting client in sub-contractor selection
  • Cooperating with administrative personnel on reports, specifications, scheduling, etc.
  • Coordinating project billing with Department Head and Accounting staff and collecting fees from clients.
  • Arranging for consultation with outside firms where desirable.
  • Assisting the Department Head with Staffing/Personnel tasks, including recruiting, retaining training, and developing team members.
  • Adhering to Isett Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • B.S. Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
  • Prior experience in transportation projects required.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills
  • Prior project and client management experience
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching junior staff.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Valid driver's license - for travel to client sites/meetings
  • Ability to attend evening meetings.
  • Ability to obtain clearances (for PA school projects and hosting students for shadow events).
