ffice Engineer/Construction Inspector (L-2023-01)Assignments will be located on heavy highway construction sites in New Jersey. The actual locations for inspection depend on the assignments that Arora receives from our clients. Reporting location may be different from the inspection location and will be provided by the client for each assignment.Responsibilities:
  • Perform office engineering duties that include but are not limited to review and file construction related submittals and reports, assist in processing contractor submitted pay estimates, and changes orders, review construction inspectors’ reports, and other office engineering related duties as assigned by the client’s resident engineer
  • Attend pre-construction, construction and close-out meetings when necessary.
  • Inspect, evaluate and measure dimensions and elevations of construction work against plans, working drawing and schematics to ensure conformance with plans and specification.
  • Measure and record quantities for payment
  • Write daily reports summarizing construction activity and other important information for the day.
  • Maintain inspection records and prepare as-built drawings
  • Refer deviations and disagreements to the Resident Engineer for resolution.
  • Monitor temporary traffic controls and traffic flow through the construction zone and report delays and hazardous conditions
Requirements:
  • NICET Highway Construction Certification – Level II, III or IV (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of highway or bridge construction experience
  • Able to work overtime as required
  • Able to read and understand plans and verbal direction in English
  • Able to write in English
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to work outdoors on construction sites under all weather conditions
  • Able to carry up to 50 lbs. of test equipment
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 to 8 hours a day
  • Able to wear and work in personal protective equipment such hard hat, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles, gloves and mask.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Possess and able to drive a personal vehicle for transportation to and from, on or around a project site during all times of the day
  • Previous construction experience on NJDOT projects
  • NJSAT Asphalt Paving Association (preferred)
  • TCC Rutgers CAIT Traffic Control Coordinator (preferred)
  • ACI Concrete Field Technician, Grade 1 (preferred)
