Brown and Caldwell's San Jose, CA office is currently looking for an Inspector to join our growing team! We are seeking an Inspector that is eager to deliver our construction services. Primary responsibilities will include performing construction and field inspection on water and wastewater engineering projects.  Candidate will work closely with strong technical experts and other leaders around the company.  This role will be onsite at various Santa Cruz, San Jose, and other Bay Area locations full-time.Detailed Description:

  • Provide onsite construction inspection for water and wastewater projects, such as new pipeline installation and rehabilitation, pump stations, and treatment plant upgrades/improvements.
  • Provide daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards and codes
  • Become familiar with the project plans and specifications for enforcement of their requirements.
  • Coordinate in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers, and regulatory agencies
  • Measure and record pay quantities
  • Prepare daily reports documenting equipment, manpower, and construction activities; and daily progress photos
  • Review and track contractor's schedule
  • Document work not performed in accordance with the plans/specifications and advise the Contractor’s Superintendent and note in Daily report.
  • Prepare preliminary punch lists
  • Conduct labor category interviews
  • Assist the Contractor in planning for and scheduling of required inspections
  • Coordinate 3rd-party special material testing inspections, as necessary
  • Keep detailed records of construction progress, changed conditions, and as-built drawings.
  • Manage project photographic records.
  • Ensure quality client services, and clarity of work products and projects while promoting and integrating companywide initiatives and values
  • Ensure overall project quality and proper safety practices.
  • Meet project budget and schedule requirements.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the construction and construction management industry
  • 10 years’ construction related experience on various water and wastewater construction projects.
  • Familiarity with the installation of small and large diameter pipe (welded steel, PVC, concrete, clay, stainless steel, ductile iron, composite, and HDPE).
  • Prior experience in the construction of concrete and masonry structures at pumping plants, water and wastewater treatment plants, or other facility improvement type projects.
  • Prior inspection experience in rebar and formwork installations.
  • Prior inspection experience in mechanical systems installation such as pump installations, process piping, and chemical system piping.
  • Familiarity in working within operational water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Familiarity with the start-up, testing, and commissioning of rehabilitated or new plant facility projects.
  • Familiarity with local design and construction standards, regulations, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to complete and maintain company required health and safety training and abide by company’s and client’s health and safety standards prior to going out in the field.
  • Valid California driver’s license and good driving record.
