The RoleYou will be responsible for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects such as planning, scheduling, conduct and coordinate assigned engineering work; monitoring work for compliance to applicable codes, good engineering practices, and Knight Piésold standards whilst ensuring effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines, project participants and the Client.The role is primarily focussed on construction of earth-fill tailings dams and liner systems. Therefore, significant experience in earthworks supervision and QA/QC management is considered essential.While the role is for the Knight Piésold Australia office, the role will be on overseas projects, predominantly in West Africa and South-East Asia. Responsibilities
- Maintain quality control of all earthworks and surrounding infrastructure whilst on site.
- Actively participate in assigned teams to provide technical skills and support to projects.
- Appropriately and accurately record all observations, analysis results, assumptions and conclusions into written reports.
- Review of Contractors’ proposed methodologies, plans, ITPs to ensure suitability to achieve technical requirements.
- Review of Contractor fleet to ensure it will be sufficient to meet the detailed schedule and capable of completing works.
- Ensuring Contractors work in an efficient manner to avoid any time or cost overruns.
- Ensuring that all Contractors meet site safety and environmental standards at all times.
- Ensuring that all Contractors meet the specification and quality control requirements of the project. Working with Contractor personnel to optimise performance from a schedule and cost perspective.
- Review of Contractors progress – highlighting areas where progress is behind schedule.
- Progress reporting - highlighting areas where progress is behind schedule and providing support in the development of appropriate remedial action.
- Participating in site meetings/discussions.
- Preparation of Daily and Weekly Site Reports covering all aspects of safety, environment, quality and schedule.
- Preparation of a final Construction Report on completion of each project.
An Ideal Candidate
- Strong working knowledge of, and experience in civil, geotechnical, water resources, environmental engineering and/or earthwork construction principles.
- Minimum of a Bachelors' degree (B.S.) in civil engineering, geotechnical or water resources.
- 10 years of experience in geotechnical structures design and construction projects, particularly in mining infrastructure.
- Successful candidates must be able to read, analyse and interpret engineering reports, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. They must also be able to write technical reports and business correspondence.
