A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.).

They are what we believe, what customers can expect, and how we deliver. Project Overview:Bechtel is designing, constructing and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington state. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era. The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities. The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and AECOM. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.  This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30am to 5:00pm. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work night shift (5:30pm to 4:00am) and weekends as needed. Position Summary:The Electrical Utility Support Group (EUSG) operates within the Facility Management organization of WTCC and is responsible for configuration and change management of power to support both ongoing construction, commissioning, and start-up testing as well as the daily operation of administrative and temporary buildings. The EUSG performs design, inspections, field support to both electricians and subcontractors, and develops work documentation for maintenance, modification, and new construction. Responsibilities:

  • The Electrical Field Engineer will report to the EUSG Lead Electrical Field Engineer. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical direction and assistance to Electrical Superintendents and crafts.
  • Supervise and coordinate work activities of electrical field engineering staff if assigned.
  • Perform inspections of all electrical work in progress on a continual basis and complete final checkout of electrical installations to ensure quality and conformance to specifications and codes.
  • Perform takeoffs and initiate and track material requisitions for electrical commodities.
  • Assist with the technical coordination of the lock-out and tag-out program activities.
  • Coordinate with vendor Technical Advisors as required.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to resolve drawing issues.
  • Inspect temporary power materials during the receiving process to insure they meet project standards and drawings.
  • Coordinate and inspect subcontractors work in the electrical field.
  • This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.

 Qualifications and Skills:Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction related discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of progressive construction related experience including, but not limited to DOE experience, work package preparation, system turnover, temporary power design and installation, construction testing, or in lieu of degree, 12 years of progressive construction related experience including but not limited to DOE experience, work package preparation, system turnover, temporary power design and installation, construction testing.
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction related discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of progressive construction related experience including, but not limited to DOE experience, work package preparation, system turnover, temporary power design and installation, construction testing, or in lieu of degree, 15 years of progressive construction related experience including but not limited to DOE experience, work package preparation, system turnover, temporary power design and installation, construction testing.
  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk downs which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs, wearing safety harness.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Must be familiar with current industry quality standards and National Electrical codes and NEMA standards for electrical installations.
  • Experience in construction and technical inspection in the areas of installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, medium voltage equipment, grounding, and cable pulling activities.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.
  • Possess a high degree of flexibility and be willing to adjust to unexpected and/or unanticipated tasks or projects as needed.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
  • Knowledge and experience in construction methods and processes, and safety compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of MicroStation or other CAD program to edit electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of ETAP or similar software to perform arc-flash calculations.
  • Experience with electrical system preventive maintenance, NFPA 70B.
  • Experience with installation of medium voltage distribution systems.
